Frequently Asked Questions

To help you get started and understand how the process works, we’ve included the answers to our most frequently asked questions below.

How much do therapy sessions cost?
Sessions for all therapy services I provide are $140 per 60-minute session.
How long are therapy sessions?
Your first session will last 60-75 minutes as we get to know each other. Most subsequent sessions will last 55-60 minutes unless a need arises to extend the session.

What should I expect during my first therapy session?

We’ll spend a little time getting to know each other first. After all, if you don’t feel comfortable, I won’t be helpful. I will have already read your paperwork if it was submitted by the previous day, so I’ll have a general idea of what you want to talk about. From there, each client gets a custom-tailored approach. Some clients need to tell their entire story while others need direction or just a little encouragement or coaxing to determine what they’d like to work on. I believe YOU are the expert on what it’s like to be you, so I will follow your lead. In some cases, I will direct our conversations to particular areas of need. My job is to challenge you toward appropriate growth, but above that, my job is to create and hold a safe emotional space for you.

How often should I have a therapy session?
It is generally best to meet weekly at first and discuss reducing frequency as you progress. However, I will not require weekly sessions unless the level of severity demands it.
What type of therapy do you use?
After carefully assessing each client’s situation for what would best help them, I use a custom blend of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT) and/or Person-Centered/ Rogerian Therapy. I operate from a Trauma-Informed perspective.
What is a telehealth (online therapy) session and how does it work?
Telehealth Therapy is any counseling that occurs via secure video conferencing platforms online. I am happy to offer it across the state of Georgia! See the Telehealth Therapy section for more details!
What is your cancellation policy?
As a client, you will receive reminder emails and/or texts for each upcoming appointment 1-2 days before. You can choose when and how you would like to receive these reminders to maximize their effectiveness. I require clients to cancel their sessions with me by phone or email within 24 hours to avoid a late cancellation fee of $70.
What forms of payment do you take?

I require a debit/credit card to be on file. If you are uncomfortable with this and would like to talk about other reliable ways you can make immediate payments, then please let me know. Note for those using Aetna Insurance: ALL of your billing will be handled through a large national conglomerate called Headway. Headway will collect your copays and keep you informed of any changes to your billing responsibilities and benefits. To learn more about them, please visit www.headway.com

Schedule Your Free 15-Minute Consultation

Let’s start with scheduling a free, 15-minute consultation. This will be a short, simple conversation in which you can ask questions and we can both evaluate whether or not I can help you. If I can help, then we’ll schedule an appointment, usually within 2 weeks of the call. If I can’t help, I’ll refer you to someone who can.
