Counseling for Anxiety

Life can be difficult and demanding. It is especially demanding for very intelligent people who have trouble managing emotions. Our emotions can run away down some wild paths if we don’t slow down and control them. I am a “brakes specialist”, and I’ll help you learn to recognize when your brain is running too fast. I’ll teach you how to slow down at will.

Counseling for ADHD

Did you know that 5-10% of the population has ADHD? Whether you already have an ADHD diagnosis or suspect that you might qualify, I can help. I will help you recognize how ADHD is affecting you daily, even in seemingly small ways. Next, I’ll help you learn to slow your mind down so that you feel more in control of your brain and body. Lastly, we’ll work on changing your lifestyle so that you are active and productive, working toward your goals again.

Counseling for Autism Level 1

Have you ever felt that you struggle too much socially and also have more difficulty than most people with very sensitive hearing or smells? Is it hard for you to understand what other people’s body movements mean or to tell how someone is feeling by their posture or subtle actions? These symptoms don’t necessarily mean you have autism, but they are a few of the more noticeable indicators. Many people have autism level 1 and don’t know it. More and more people are diagnosed in adulthood every day. If this sounds like you, then I can help you learn to regulate your senses and understand other people more. It starts with learning to recognize the ways your symptoms impact you and then addressing the emotions you feel when your senses are distressed. And don’t worry about me labeling you with a paper trail. Unless we’re using insurance, I likely will not have to use an official diagnosis at all.

In-Person Counseling

Ya know, there’s just something about being in the same room with another human being that makes the experience of counseling so much better! Most of my clients have jobs that allow them to work from home. While it’s super convenient to put in eight hours of work without changing out of your pajamas, it’s also a really healthy thing to get out of the house regularly and often. Counseling appointments can be a great time for that. And yes, you can wear your modest pajamas to my office if you like. Many people do!

Telehealth Video Counseling

I get it. Sometimes you just need to log in for a faster and easier counseling experience. I strive to provide the highest quality telehealth counseling available. I use secure software that will automatically email you a link the day before the session. You’ll have plenty of time to test it out on your device and find a comfortable, private place to meet with me. We can meet from almost anywhere that you choose as long as it is private and in Georgia. (Note: Telehealth is not appropriate for every client.)

Neurodivergence: Not wrong, just different.

Once you understand how you are different and how to manage it, you can lean into it and use it to your advantage.

Believe it or not, you have a LOT to offer! You are more intelligent, more creative, more innovative, and more accustomed to managing anxiety than the vast majority of other people! I know it feels like others can’t see that, but maybe it’s not about what others think. Creative people will always push the envelope and challenge society’s perspectives. Maybe you’re a challenger who’s about to find their real challenge – healing the inner world!

Schedule a Free Consultation

The process of learning to take back control starts with scheduling a free, 15-minute consultation. This will be a short, simple conversation in which you can ask questions and we can both evaluate whether or not I can help you. If I can help, then we’ll schedule an appointment, usually within 2 weeks of the call. If I can’t help, I’ll refer you to someone who can.
